What Is It All About Beauty Product Dangers? – Part 2

Continued From The Previous Post

There are more of these dangers sitting hidden in the form of beauty products. Whatever be the reason always make sure you get more reliable products without the most common chemical dangers. Go natural wherever you can

Concern: Tanning Beds

Here’s what the research says no matter what you have heard about the safety of tanning salons: raising the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer is the frequent use of tanning beds. Contributing to premature aging-wrinkles and brown spots, in addition, tanning beds many emit UVA rays. Tanned skin is actually damaged skin even if tanned skin looks good to you.

Option: Sunless Tanning Products

To fake a tan, it is easy. Typically containing DHA which is a colour additive that reacts with amino acids in the skin’s surface to create a temporary tan are sunless tanning lotions. Not for use in commercial spray tanning booths, is DHA that comes to FDA- approved only for external application. Thereby it is possible that booths may cause you to inhale some of the sprays as also get it in your eyes. Even when you have a sunless tan, be sure to use sunscreen. Here it doesn’t of course protect the skin.

Concern: Nail Salon Hazards

Including formaldehyde, phthalates, acetone, or toluene, are manicure products containing a wide range of chemicals. It is possible that the fumes may irritate the skin, eyes, nose, and respiratory tract. More common in salon workers than in clients are these reactions. Particularly if the equipment has not been sterilised properly, manicures and pedicures can also result in fungal or bacterial infections.

Option: Minimize Risks

Inspect the salon’s cleanliness before having a manicure or pedicure. If you doubt the quality of the salon’s sanitation or disinfection practice, leave. Avoid the nail salon if your skin is cut, nicked, or broken, and don’t shave your legs before a pedicure. Ensure that your salon obeys laws designed to protect worker’s safety if you are a salon worker.

Concern: Phthalates

Used to make products more pliable are the chemicals called Phthalates. Including nail polish, shampoo, and soap, they are found in toys, food packaging, and some beauty products. Phthalate exposure during pregnancy may lead to abnormal development in male infants, including low hormone levels and small genital size as two studies suggest. To conclude that phthalates pose a health risk, the FDA says there is not enough evidence.

Option: Phthalate-Free Products

Look for phthalate-free beauty products if you are concerned about phthalates. Check out the ingredients for the terms as phthalate (dibutylphthalate, dimethylphthalate, diethylphthalate, etc.), butyl ester, or plasticizer. They are also found in flooring, shower curtains, food packaging as well as many other staples of modern life as it is important to note. Reducing your overall exposure is by using phthalate-free cosmetics and skin-care products.

Concern: Parabens

Found in cosmetics, including makeup, moisturisers, and hair care products are parabens. It did not indicate that parabens actually caused cancer whereas one study found parabens in breast tumours. Leading to cancer, other researchers have thereafter concluded it is implausible about the amount of parabens in cosmetics.

Option: Paraben-Free Cosmetics

You can find paraben-free beauty products if you are concerned about parabens. Parabens aren’t the only option as cosmetics tend to spoil without preservatives. As preservatives, some products use vitamin C or vitamin E.

Does Makeup Expire?

Toss it now if you are hanging onto your glittery disco-era eye shadow. Allowing bacteria to grow are preservatives in the makeup that may break down over time. The following use by guidelines are offered by experts:

For Foundation - one year

In case of blush/powder/shadow - two years

For the lipstick - one year

The Mascara - 3-4 months

If you have an eye infection throw out eye makeup immediately

Is Mineral Makeup Better?

Containing fewer irritating fillers and preservatives than regular cosmetics is mineral makeup. People with sensitive skin should look for products with as few ingredients as possible whereas it can still contain allergens. Don’t rely on them as your sole protection from the sun although mineral makeup often has built-in sunscreen like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Over your regular sunscreen, it's best to use mineral makeup.

Sunscreen Safety

Being used for many decades and considered safe are the ingredients in sunscreen. Choosing a sunscreen that is too weak is the real danger. Choose a product labelled broad-spectrum and choose SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging to protect against both UVA and UVB rays.
