There Are Easy At-Home Hair Treatments To Rescue Your Hair As Well As The Scalp – Part 2

More On The Hair Problems

Hair problems affect many as they are sure to bring dullness to your looks. For healthy hair, there are many solutions from homemade remedies to store-bought medications. Be it a simple step or the direct application of the medicines readily available in the market, they all promise a healthy hairline. So, from the continuation of the previous post, we explain a few more reasons and remedies for dull hair.

The Problem: Itchy Scalp

The fix:

Firstly, soothe and moisturise as the itchy scalp comes to be caused by myriad problems ranging from something as serious as psoriasis or as minor as dryness. As Davis Sivasothy explains, reach for tea tree oil as an effective remedy for nearly any scalp ailment that also includes antifungal conditions.

How to use it:

The process includes dripping three drops of the oil on the cotton swab and thereby dabbing onto the scalp. Dilute 1 ½ tablespoon of oil to one cup of warm water in case the oil is irritating. After this, as White recommends, combat dryness by breaking a Vitamin E capsule rubbing the oil on itchy areas helping moisturise skin, sloughing off dead skin cells and unclogging the hair follicles further. Subsequently, you can leave the oil on overnight rinsing out in the morning.

Store-bought fix:

Make sure to apply a scalp conditioner like Derma E Scalp Relief Conditioner to the scalp avoiding damage to the hair and stripping colour, and consult a dermatologist in case the problem persists.

The Problem: Limp Locks

The fix:

Here help boost volume. Adding texture is the sure-fire way to pump up a flat ’do. You can mimic the effect with laundry starch when you come low on your go-to arsenal of volumizers and root lifters. According to Kyle White the lead colourist at Oscar Blandi, the starch builds texture and it has a stronghold lasting throughout the day.

How to use it:

Firstly, you can mist the roots with starch lightly, blow-dry, and then style as usual. It is better here to remember that less is more. As White recommends, start with a light layer and thereby build up as seems fit.

Store-bought fix:

Try the John Frieda Volume Lift Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray for the similar hair product that gets this job done.

The Problem: Faded Dye Job

The fix:

Now you can intensify vibrancy adding a jolt of red with the cranberry juice rinse where the cherry flavoured Kool-Aid works and warming up the ashy blonde hair substituting the cranberry juice rinse for chamomile tea. With some champagne, bring out golden tones. In case of some brassiness in the blonde locks, rinse with grape flavoured Kool-Aid to counter any signs of orange.

How to use it:

Carefully pour the juice over clean detangled hair tilting the head back over the sink. Dry your hair section by section on low heat to lock colour in place once every section is soaked. Thereby you can rinse and condition. As White explains it is better to remember to do a rinse only when necessary and otherwise it could lead to a build-up.

Store-bought fix:

With colour enhancing shampoo like KMS Colour Vitality Shampoo, revive the hair colour fully.

The Problem: Dullness

The fix:

To lock in shine consider the cuticles as the outermost layer of the hair similar to shingles on the roof, where they must lie as flat as possible for shiny strands, as the reason for ruffling up the cuticles comes to be anything from friction to hot water to humidity resulting in a lackluster mane. The culprits of sapping shine are of course residue and product build-up.

How to use it:

Pour an apple cider vinegar rinse to clarify and smooth cuticles using a tablespoon of vinegar to a half cup of water over the damp hair and then comb through. Follow up with a conditioner letting it sink in for five minutes and then rinsing with cool water.

Complementing the pH of our hair, the acidity in the vinegar helps seal the cuticle making it lay flatter according to White.

Store-bought fix:

You can try Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three if it is not possible to stand the stench of vinegar.
